Proposed cap on tax relief on charitable donations dropped 31 May 2012

NMDC is delighted by the news that Government will drop plans to introduce a cap on tax relief on donations to charity.  UK museums have been major beneficiaries of the generosity of wealthy individuals and were deeply concerned about the potentially devastating impact of a cap on their ability to fundraise for future projects.  NMDC joined voices from across the charity sector calling for charitable donations to be exempted from the cap, and is encouraged to see that Government has listened to our concerns.

NMDC strongly supports the Government’s ambition to encourage philanthropy and looks forward to continuing to work with Ministers on this agenda.
