Julia Twomlow

Creative Director/CEO PK Porthcurno - MC7

Julia is Creative Director and CEO at PK Porthcurno, Museum of Global Communications in West Cornwall. Julia joined the team at Porthcurno in 2018, leading on the restructure of the charity as CIO and the development of its award-winning programme.

In 2023, PK Porthcurno joined with six other museums in Cornwall to form a new Arts Council England funded consortium, mc7. Other members of the partnership include Royal Cornwall Museum, Wheal Martyn Clayworks, the Museum of Cornish Life, Bodmin Keep, Falmouth Art Gallery and Penlee House Gallery and Museum.   

Previously, Julia was Artistic Director and CEO at Rothesay Pavilion CIO (2015-18), working on the rescue and redevelopment of this iconic building on the Isle of Bute, Scotland.  From 2008-15, she was Director at the Leach Pottery, St Ives, launching the site as a museum and working pottery studio following its redevelopment and building a business model whereby its commercial activities supported the charity’s educational remit.  Prior to moving into museums, Julia’s first management role was as Centre Director at the Acorn Theatre, Penzance, leading a Lottery-funded capital project to renovate and make accessible a community arts centre before running it as a multi-artform facility for seven years.

Julia has an MRes in International Heritage Management and Consultancy from University of Exeter and was a Fellow on the Clore Leadership Programme in 2004-05.
