Jane Rowlands was appointed as the Head of Museums and Collections for Glasgow Life in November 2024.

Jane has worked at Glasgow Museums, the largest civic museum service in the UK, since 2000.

Jane has been involved in the delivery of successful projects and programmes including the refurbishment of Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Glasgow Museum Resource Centre, the Riverside Museum project, the reimagining of Kelvin Hall and The Burrell Collection.

Alongside these capital projects, she has led research projects that have led to public programmes in nine venues in the city. She has been involved in a range of high-profile museums projects, including the recent major capital redevelopment of The Burrell Collection.  The Burrell was awarded the prestigious 2023 Art Fund Museum of the Year.  She has been involved in increasing business approaches across all the service’s activities, planning future exhibitions in the city, collection governance and a number of international touring exhibitions featuring the city’s collections.

Jane is currently leading the museums work for the refurbishment of the People's Palace and Winter Gardens.
