About the role
The role will be responsible for the delivery of strategic ICT projects in line with best practice methodology. Working alongside stakeholders you will agree the requirements and scope of specific project and the lead the delivery of these project from initiation through to transition to BAU.
The role requires an individual with the ability to maintain momentum to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and on budget, ensuring any variations are managed through robust governance structures.
Working alongside the wider ICT PMO, the role will require managing a range of stakeholders across the ICT team and the wider organisation through regular formal and informal communication. You will use your experience to manage your project team in a hybrid working environment to ensure productivity is maintained and key targets met.
This role is a 12 month fixed term contract, advertised for 35 hours per week, working Monday to Friday and you will be based at the National Railway Museum in York.You will be required to work on site minimum 2 days per week.
About you
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Project Manager who can transition smoothly into the role and start adding value early on. While a background in ICT project delivery is desirable, we welcome applications from candidates with a solid track record of successfully delivering complex projects across other sectors, provided they can demonstrate the ability to work effectively in an ICT environment.
Candidates should hold a practitioner-level qualification in Agile and/or PRINCE2, or be able to evidence equivalent experience applying best practice frameworks in programme and project delivery. We are looking for someone who is highly self-motivated and takes initiative - someone who is comfortable making considered, data-driven decisions at pace, using the information available to them, and who thrives when working on their own initiative.
Effective stakeholder management and communication skills are essential, as the role involves working closely with Masterplan teams and engaging with stakeholders at all levels, requiring the ability to build relationships quickly, influence effectively, and support organisational decisions.
Experience of managing budgets with a focus on cost efficiency, leading and inspiring project teams, and replanning projects to maintain momentum against hard deadlines will all be key to success in this role.
