Excited by the idea of shaping how schools across the UK experience the Science Museum
About us
The Science Museum aims to inspire visitors with its unparalleled collections of iconic objects and stories of incredible scientific achievement, reaching over three million visitors a year through award-winning exhibitions, galleries and exciting range of events and programming.
The Science Museum Group is launching a new Schools Bursary fund to remove barriers for schools to engage with our museums.
To support this new fund, we are now looking for a Public Programme Coordinator (Schools Bursary) to join on a fixed term basis until 31st August 2028. This will be a part time role for 21 hours per week.
The role can be based at any Science Museum Group site.
About the role
As Public Programme Coordinator (Schools Busary), you will play a central role in the set-up of this new bursary fund during its pilot phase. Working closely with colleagues across Public Programme, Fundraising & Partnerships, Finance, Legal, Communications, you will ensure the bursary is administered fairly, effectively and impactfully.
This position involves a broad mix of coordination work, including administration, financial monitoring, stakeholder communication, and reporting. You will be the primary operational contact for the bursary, supporting schools through the application process and ensuring systems are in place to monitor spend, uptake and impact.
Hybrid working is available in this role in line with the current hybrid working policy at SMG, with a minimum of 40% of working hours based onsite at the Science Museum in London.
About you
By joining our team, you will contribute administration experience from any sector, along with the ability to prepare and review numerical or financial information. You'll be able to use a Customer Relationship Management system to record data and create reports, and you'll bring interpersonal skills that support productive, effective working relationships.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
