To support this work, we are recruiting a full-time Interpretation Manager, based at the Science Museum, for a 12-month fixed-term contract.
About the role
As Interpretation Manager, you will oversee the planning and delivery of interpretation across both the Science Museum's temporary exhibitions and permanent galleries, small displays and gallery refreshes. You will support content development and advocate for high-quality interpretation that enhances audience engagement, learning, and enjoyment.
You will manage up to two Interpretation Developers and working with the Senior Interpretation & Content Manager and other Interpretation Managers, you will develop the skills and professional growth of the Interpretation team members. You will oversee the development of varied interpretation outputs from text to interactives, working closely with a range of colleagues including in audience research, curatorial, design, digital teams.
Hybrid working is available (a minimum of two days in the office), with some flexibility required to attend onsite more frequently when there is a requirement to do so.
About you
By joining us, you will bring solid experience in line management, including mentoring, coaching and guiding interpretation developers (or similar) to support meaningful career progression and project delivery. You will have developed inspiring, engaging, and varied interpretation for exhibitions, displays or other public outputs, and have worked collaboratively within project teams, building and maintaining positive relationships both internally and externally.
