Exhibitions & Programmes Manager (National Partnerships)

The Exhibitions and Programmes Manager sits within the National Partnerships team and works closely with colleagues across the Gallery to develop and manage a range of collaborative activity with regional partners, including touring exhibitions and displays. We are exploring new opportunities to broaden the range of audiences engaging with the collection by working strategically with regional partners and are looking for a dynamic individual with exhibitions experience and excellent relationship management skills as well as a good knowledge of the UK Museum and Gallery sector.

Responsibilities will include programme design and setting up project management structures, contract negotiation and management, stakeholder liaison with a variety of partners, touring exhibition and loan logistics, scheduling, budget and risk management.

Key Accountabilities:

Planning and Project Initiation

Leads on partnership relationship management across the project within a Project Management Framework developing excellent working relationships with key stakeholders.
Holds the overview of the project to ensure effective budget management, reporting and effective delivery according to a set of agreed outcomes.
Works with NPG internal teams to support tour planning and to convene partnership activity on cultural conversations across the partnership as it relates to the partner displays.

Project Management

Sets up and manages the internal project team, convening meetings, setting agendas and collating reports.
Manages the overall project timeline, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and for maximum impact for target audiences.
Drafts and negotiates partnership agreements.
Manages and monitors loan processes, including insurance and transport arrangements
Oversees design, interpretation, press and marketing processes as required
Supports evaluation for the wider project working with partners to agree a framework and key outcomes
Assesses and logs project risk and ensures that this is effectively communicated to stakeholders

Stakeholder Management

Main point of contact for projects, coordinating and disseminating information between national partners and NPG teams
Manages external relationships with suppliers and consultants as needed
Coordinates reporting to funders in liaison with NPG Development team.

Budget and Resource Management

Monitors and manages the overall project budget, reforecasting as required
Works closely with the National Partnerships Assistant to ensure invoices are paid in a timely manner.
Works with all project stakeholders to monitor and manage project resources ensuring that there is appropriate allocation of resources across the lifespan of the project
