Audience Researcher
Do you have experience of working with members of the public? Would you like to engage with and give a voice to the diverse visitor groups at the Science Museum?
About us
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Audience Research and Advocacy team at the Science Museum Group (SMG), to aid our mission to inspire futures and implementation of our Strategy. Audience research is key to our approach which is audience-centred, equitable, evidence-based, collaborative, relevant, agile, efficient and sustainable.
We are recruiting for an Audience Researcher to join on a fixed term contract lasting 24 months. This is a full-time role, working 35 hours per week and is based at the Science Museum in London with hybrid working also available.
About the role
As an Audience Researcher you will conduct audience research with a wide variety of visitors including families, school groups, neurodivergent individuals, and adults to support the development of these two galleries, learning resources, programmes, events and activities.
Using evidence-based findings, you will make recommendations and provide advice for relevant teams at Science Museum, and across the Science Museum Group, about the needs, wants and expectations of the project's target audiences. To do this you will receive full training on audience research at SMG, including research methods such as interviewing, observation and qualitative data analysis.
About you
Joining us you will have good interpersonal skills and experience of working with members of the public. You will have an understanding of a range of audiences and their potential access requirements. This might include the D/deaf, Visually Impaired, and neurodiverse communities.
Crucially, you will be a good communicator with the ability to work well as part of a team. You will have an understanding of qualitative research methods and the ability to work on several projects simultaneously and keep to deadlines.
Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
