This is an exciting opportunity for a Preservation Technician to join a friendly team delivering preventive conservation activities at IWM Duxford, that include integrated pest management, environmental monitoring, and conservation cleaning.
Responsibilities will include:
Developing and delivering a programme of conservation cleaning for objects on display and in stores
Providing support to the museum’s busy Exhibition and Film programme
Maintaining the Collections Emergency Response Equipment and participating in audits.
Keeping electronic and paper-based records of work done
Supervising volunteers and contractors and providing training when necessary
The ideal candidate will have some experience from working in museum collections/housekeeping and/or Preservation/Conservation, alongside a keen interest in 20th-century history. They should be able to demonstrate good manual dexterity and a methodical approach, as well as the capacity to work from ladders at heights of up to 15 metres.
Please note: this role will involve some working at height, for which training will be given.
