About the role:
To undertake research into and make publicly accessible the museum’s collections from the ancient Greek world, especially architecture, sculpture and inscriptions, in support of the Museum’s Masterplan, the Museum Operating Plan and all relevant Museum strategies.
This opportunity arises at a unique moment, as the Department of Greece and Rome is rebuilding its strength (with five permanent curatorial appointments to be made in 2024) and as the Museum is about to embark on an ambitious plan to redisplay many of its permanent galleries.

Key areas of responsibility:
• To work as a team member with colleagues within and beyond the department of Greece and Rome to develop and deliver our displays and to deliver the Masterplan.
• To collaborate with colleagues from across the Museum to develop innovative cross-departmental displays on our Greek collections and on the full range of human history.
• To participate in the Museum’s public programme, delivering talks, seminars, lectures, participating in and organizing conferences and seminars and broadcasts
• To deliver and to assist in developing research projects on parts of the collections in consultation with the Keeper and Head of Research, including working with external partners.
• To assist in raising money to support, research projects; and to contribute to general income generation for the Museum.

About you:
• BA/BSc (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
• Specialist knowledge of the archaeology and history of the Greek world
• Experience of fieldwork, research and publication
• Some knowledge of relevant modern languages
• Some knowledge of ancient Greek
• Experience of working with a collection
• Some experience of management issues (people, projects, budgets)
• Open, effective communicator with good spoken and written English
