Infrastructure Engineer

The Natural History Museum is one of the world’s leading museums, internationally recognised for its dual role as a centre of excellence in scientific research and as a leader in the presentation of natural history through exhibitions, public programmes, publications and the web.

The Technology Solutions department is undertaking a range of projects which focus on improving the delivery of the Museum’s digital products and services. The Museum is seeking a talented Infrastructure Engineer whose main mission is to lower the barriers to delivering a service oriented infrastructure through the use of infrastructure orchestration, cloud computing, virtualisation and monitoring/alerting technologies.

There is huge scope for career development. The position offers a high degree of autonomy to make a difference, with support to learn and master new technologies from an existing team of experienced Infrastructure analysts and support staff.

This role has the potential to evolve into a leading position within a DevOps focused infrastructure team as the Technology Solutions department embraces Infrastructure as a Service technologies such as Vagrant, Puppet, Ansible and containerization. The role carries the responsibility of participating in out of hour's scheduled and emergency work.

Salary: £38,000 per annum plus benefits
