About us
Royal Museums Greenwich is a collection of diverse historical sites. The sites are the National Maritime Museum, Cutty Sark, the Royal Observatory, and the Queen’s House. Each of these sites has a unique identity and a common purpose to serve our communities, through sharing our collections and expertise. We are a place to explore the sea, space, art and history, and our strategy ‘Charting Our Course’ puts people at the core of its success.
The Role
Working in the Development team and reporting to the Senior Manager, Trusts and Foundations, the Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser will contribute to the Museum’s annual revenue income target of between £1.4M-£2M across all sites and departments, maximising trusts and foundations income in line with RMG’s strategy ‘Charting our Course’. The post holder will contribute to a £78M ambitious capital campaign ‘First Light’, a transformational and once in a lifetime project at the Royal Observatory Greenwich.
Key responsibilities include securing major grants of between 4 – 5 figures to contribute towards the Museum’s annual revenue target and capital project ‘First Light’ and supporting more strategic 6 figure bids. The post holder will source and identify opportunities for funding, instigate contact with prospective funders, prepare compelling and accurate proposals to match Museum and project aims with fundraising criteria, create attractive ‘packages’ of activity/programme strands to maximise grant opportunities, and work with the Senior Manager, Trusts and Foundations to develop a robust stewardship plan and actively contribute to the delivery of this.
The successful candidate will have proven experience of securing grants and of complex funding applications, as well as accurate financial reporting. They will have excellent writing skills, strong powers of persuasion and networking ability, be highly organised, able to prioritise and meet deadlines, and be a team player with a collaborative mindset. A hunger to reach and exceed financial targets, as well as passion and enthusiasm for heritage and culture, are essential to this role. Knowledge or experience of Raisers Edge NXT is desirable.
This is a full-time, fixed-term role until 30 June 2028, in Band 5 – Management and Proficient Specialists. Core hours of work will be 36, 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, with an additional hour to be worked as agreed upon with management. Due to the nature of the work flexibility is required in meeting the demands of the role.
