The British Library’s Community Participation Team is responsible for leading on the Library’s engagement with families, young people, community groups and adult learners. The collection is at the heart of this unique learning programme which offers a range of opportunities for audiences to explore, connect and interact both onsite, online and nationally. This role is located within the Community Participation Team and leads on the development of an innovative programme for family audiences.
The post-holder will have experience of working with a range of audiences, ideally within an arts, gallery, library or museum setting and have a creative and practical approach to learning and access. They will manage the development and delivery of the family and community programme at the British Library, working closely with their job-share. The post-holder is responsible for the delivery of a core programme of onsite and outreach activities for a family and community audience as well as major exhibition-linked initiatives. Main duties include designing and delivering a programme of activities, projects and events aimed at a family audience; commissioning a range of workshop leaders, performers and creative practitioners to lead sessions; consultation and evaluation; and building relationships both within the community and with external partners to grow the programme.
