This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience of working with communities to make a real difference to the creation of London Museum, one of Europe's biggest cultural projects.
Working with colleagues in our dynamic and friendly Engagement team, you will assist with the practical planning, coordination and day-to-day delivery of a community-led public events programme and temporary creative community space as part of the museum's Smithfield Neighbourhood Programme.
This programme is a key part of our work to build strong relationships with local communities in advance of the opening of the new London Museum in West Smithfield in 2026, and to work together with community partners, participants and audiences whose experiences and voices are underrepresented in the museum’s collections and the stories we tell.
Activities will include the ongoing day-to-day running of the museum's temporary creative community space, assisting with the delivery of creative projects with local residents and community groups, and supporting summer play programmes for families, community tours of the London Museum construction site and Open House weekend events.
Previous experience of working in a museum is not required and you do not need to have academic qualifications. We are looking for someone who is highly organised with great practical problem solving skills, who enjoys working collaboratively with a wide range of people, and who has a passion for supporting community-led activities and projects within an arts, heritage or community setting.
You will have an awareness of the complexity of London's society, an appreciation of the inequalities experienced by marginalised communities, and a commitment to putting inclusion and anti-racist practice at the heart of your work.
