Development Events Manager

As the UK’s leading centre of science engagement and the most visited museum by school groups in the UK, the Science Museum is inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers - the problem-solvers of tomorrow.

Fundraising is key to delivering our bold, strategic ambitions. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of a dynamic, world-renowned organisation. You will be a key part in an established team with a strong track record of delivering over 100 events a year.

About the role

As Development Events Manager, you will devise and deliver events that give our prospective and current donors an outstanding experience of the Science Museum Group.

Without line management responsibilities, you will take ownership of developing and delivering a series of cultivation and stewardship events that attract, engage and retain high value supporters across all of our museums: the Science Museum in London, the National Railway Museum in York, the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester, the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford and Locomotion in Shildon.

From bespoke tours and exclusive lectures to networking receptions and launch events, you will create a world-class supporter experience that inspires individuals, companies, and trusts to engage with and financially support the museums.

In this role you will also utilise your communication skills to work collaboratively with in-house teams, onsite contractors and other stakeholders to plan and deliver events to a consistently high standard at each site.

About you

You will have a strong track record in planning and delivering large scale events. Fundraising experience is desirable, but we are open to how you may have developed your Events experience to date – whether it be in hospitality, corporate or other busy industries.

With great interpersonal skills, you are able to build solid relationships with a range of stakeholders and offer the flexibility to meet different working styles. You are able to manage your work and relationships strategically, and whether you have worked at a management level or not, you can provide an broad oversight of your events activity to make informed decisions.

You will also have excellent organisational and project management skills, and can work across a range of priorities. You will possess the ability to embrace imaginative and innovative solutions, fuelled by your solutions-focus.
