Volunteer Coordinator

The Horniman Museum and Gardens is a unique attraction in south east London where world cultures and the natural world are brought together for everyone to enjoy. The Museum holds internationally important collections of anthropology and musical instruments, as well as a popular natural history gallery and Aquarium. The 16 acres of beautiful Gardens feature a tropical Butterfly House and offer stunning views across London.

The Horniman involves over 200 volunteers each year in varied roles across all areas of the museum’s work. We are looking for a Volunteering Coordinator who will be instrumental in managing the Engage and Family Activity teams (the museum’s visitor-facing volunteers), and coordinating volunteer recruitment and student placements within museum departments, providing critical administration.

You will be a motivated, flexible individual with a balance of skills in content development and delivery, and administration. As well as being systematic and organised, you’ll be able to work appropriately and sensitively with our diverse range of volunteers and visitors, and will be an enthusiastic and knowledgeable advocate of volunteering best practice.

The closing date for completed applications is 10am on Monday 30 May 2022.

Interviews will be held on Monday 13 June 2022.

The Horniman is an equal opportunities employer and we value and celebrate diversity. We want to better represent the communities in which we work but recognise that there is still much work to do in this area. We welcome and encourage all applicants and particularly encourage you to apply if you are from a community that is often disadvantaged by society or of minority background
