Volunteer Development Manager (Maternity Leave Cover)

The National Portrait Gallery houses a unique collection of all forms of portraiture of the people who have made or are currently contributing to British history and culture; the collection is the most comprehensive of its kind in the world. With around 2 million visitors each year and a strong national and international presence through touring exhibitions and special projects, the Gallery is one of the country’s most important and popular galleries.

Volunteer Development Manager (Maternity Leave Cover)

£23,100 (£33,000 FTE per annum)

Part-time, 28 hours per week

Fixed term contract for up to one year

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented, motivated, hard-working and experienced Volunteer Development Manager to join the Gallery to contribute to the successful delivery of our Inspiring People project. This role will provide maternity leave cover and during that period continue to progress the delivery of an ambitious volunteer programme.

Reporting to the HR Director and working closely with a range of colleague across the Gallery, the Volunteer Development Manager must be able to demonstrate substantial previous experience working in a volunteer management position. In addition, experience and understanding of partnership working, and the ability to advocate for change within an organisation and influence across many departments are essential.
