Project Administrator - Start-ups in London Libraries

We are looking for a highly organised and enthusiastic individual to join us to provide administrative support for an exciting new European-funded project. The British Library is one of the world’s greatest research libraries and one of its core purposes is to help businesses to innovate and grow.  The Business & IP Centre, based in the Library’s flagship building in St Pancras, was founded in 2006 and has a track record in helping people to start and grow successful businesses by giving them access to our collections, knowledge and networks. Building on our successful experience, we are piloting the delivery of business support in every high street via libraries across ten London boroughs.

As Project Administrator, you will work closely with the Project Manager and Coordinator to set up and maintain robust monitoring and reporting systems and ensure that we - and the partner libraries - comply with strict ERDF guidelines.   You will also be responsible for organising regular project update meetings and ensuring that the partner boroughs meet the strict ERDF and GDPR guidelines.

Successful candidates should have excellent administration skills including the ability to multi-task, pay attention to detail and enter and record data in an accurate and timely fashion. Proven experience in using databases, especially Excel and the ability to produce regular reports to an agreed format are key for this role. Experience in events co-coordination and a knowledge and interest in entrepreneurship and small-medium-sized enterprises of diverse backgrounds is also desirable.

This post is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)

In return we offer a competitive salary and a number of excellent benefits.  Our pension scheme is one of the most valuable benefits we offer, as our staff can become members of the Alpha Pension Scheme where the Library contributes 20.9%. Another significant benefit the Library provides is the provision of a flexible working hours scheme which could allow you to work your hours flexibly over the week and to take up to 5 days flexi leave in a 3 month period. This is on top of 25 days holiday from entry and public and privilege holidays.

More about the British Library

As one of the world’s great libraries, our duty is to preserve the nation’s intellectual memory for the future. At the moment we have well over 150 million items, in most known languages, with three million new items added every year. We have manuscripts, maps, newspapers, magazines, prints and drawings, music scores, and patents. We operate the world’s largest document delivery service providing millions of items a year to customers all over the world. What matters to us is that we preserve the national memory and enable knowledge to be created both now and in the future.
