Research Development Manager
Full Time, Permanent.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established Research Development Team who co-ordinate the British Library’s activities and strategy as an Independent Research Organisation (IRO). With a research portfolio of over 50 funded projects, multiple fellowship programmes and a large collaborative doctoral programme, you will be part of a dynamic four-person team, contributing to all aspects of British Library research strategy development, its governance and administration.
You will initiate and shape new opportunities for externally funded research collaborations across all subject disciplines, ensuring they align with the Library’s Living Knowledge strategy. Working closely with British Library staff and external partners, you will help develop research bids to a range of UK and international funders including UKRI (particularly AHRC), UK government supported funds, trusts, academies and overseas bodies. You will lead on research development for the Library in relation to Heritage and Music collections, and Digital Humanities. You will also contribute to the administration, evaluation and enhancement of the wide range of ongoing research development activity at the Library.
You will develop strategies and establish practices that enable the British Library to maximise the benefits it derives from involvement in research in line with our core purposes. You will develop and support engagement activities to promote awareness of the value and purposes of the BL as an independent research organisation with a range of professional and public audiences.
