Project Assistant (Collections Review)

The aviation collection of National Museums Scotland is the broadest collection in the UK, covering all aspects of human flight. The collection includes civil, military, and recreational flight as well as the main forms of propulsion: unpowered (gliders, hang-gliders), human powered, piston-engine, turbojet, turbofan and rocket. This collection is diverse ranging from aircraft to textiles.

As Project Assistant (Collections Review), you will play a key role in a focused programme of work designed to review and improve the care of the aviation collections. Based at the National Museum of Flight, you will work as part of a team assessing, documenting, rehousing and where appropriate, disposing of collections in line with National Museum Scotland’s procedures.

You will have proven experience of object handling, documentation, object packing and movement gained in a museum/gallery environment. You will have practical experience of improving the care of collections in store as well as working with collections containing hazardous materials.

The successful candidates are expected to take up post in October or November 2019. This is a fixed-term post for 12 months.

Please apply via our website where you can find the full Recruitment Pack and the Application Form. Please note that CVs are not considered as part of the application process.
