The Domesday Book. Shakespeare’s will. The Poll Tax Riots. War time records. These are just some of the 11 million items held by The National Archives. With a collection like this – the largest in the world – it’s essential we evolve to keep on top of our ever-increasing digital records. Making sense of the vast array of born-digital records for the future use of the public is an awesome task.
About the role:
The National Archives has long history of delivering high quality, ambitious digital services to diverse audiences. We want to be at the forefront of creating innovative ways for our users to access culture and heritage. As a Delivery Manager, within the Digital Archiving department, you will join a multi-disciplined product team, embedding agile ways of working and ensuring iterative delivery of high quality product at pace, managing resources and contributing to planning and product assessment activities. You will work closely with the Product Owner who is concerned with the product vision, you as the Delivery Manager will be concerned with making it happen. The perfect visionary and doer pairing. You will be working with creative, motivated teams who embrace challenge and look for opportunities to do things differently. This is a great time to join us.
Whether you are an experienced agile practitioner or a project manager with a strong track record of operational delivery, you will be adept at structuring complex digital projects, breaking down barriers for your team and empowering them to deliver. You’ll be a problem solver, able to see and communicate the wider impact of your work, while also being able to get into the detail to make things happen when needed. You’ll be comfortable working in a continuous learning environment, dealing with ambiguity and change and balancing multiple priorities. Skilled at building trust, managing team dynamics and motivating people, ideally with strong coaching and diplomacy skills, allowing you to build effective relationships and achieve buy-in collaboratively. Most importantly, you’ll come with a desire to innovate, a focus on user needs and the will to drive forward improvements to our service.
Join us here in beautiful Kew, just 10 minutes’ walk from the Overground and Underground stations, and you can expect an excellent range of benefits, which includes an opportunity to join the Civil Service Alpha Pension Scheme, where The National Archives contributes at least 26%!
