Volunteer Co-ordinator

The British Museum is seeking a Volunteer Co-ordinator to work within the Volunteers’ Office, to support a wide range of activity including, a wide portfolio of volunteer-led tours, eight Hands On desks and departmental volunteering.

The post-holder will support the recruitment of new volunteers and will provide a point of contact for the Museum’s existing team of volunteers. You will also support the development and delivery of volunteer training and ensure that all databases and records are kept up to date.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of working with the public and volunteers, including administrative experience. With a high level of IT literacy, you will be educated to GCSE level, or equivalent. Previous administrative experience in a museum or gallery would be advantageous.

As a diplomatic and persuasive individual, you will be able to negotiate with others and communicate effectively at all levels. The ability to prioritise your workload and organise your time successfully is essential.
