Programme Manager: Collection

The British Museum is seeking an exceptional programme and project manager to lead on the delivery of strategic projects, including major collection storage and move projects. This important role is part of a new management team responsible for the development and delivery of an estate-wide plan for storage of the Museum’s unparalleled research collection. This ambitious programme currently includes the creation of the British Museum Archaeological Research Collection in Reading, decant of a major West London collection store, and a project to rehouse the majority of the Museum’s fragile organic collections in purpose-built stores at Bloomsbury.

Key areas of responsibility:
You will manage the delivery of a programme of complex collection storage and move projects, on time and budget, and contribute to plans for the future of the Museum’s estate.

Person specification:
This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with proven experience of delivering major complex projects involving multi-disciplinary teams, and managing organisational change in the culture or heritage sector. You will have a recognised project management qualification, and your budget, resource management and procurement experience will enable you to build project teams, and to plan resources and contracts effectively. You will be able to demonstrate excellent planning and analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex information to a broad range of staff and stakeholders.
