2023: Addressing the legacies of colonialism nationally and internationally

The 2023 Working Internationally Conference will address how museums can engage with the legacies of colonialism across the international sector.

2022: Museum Practice for Future Generations 

The 2022 Working Internationally Conference connected pioneering museum practice from Wales and across the UK with international museums on the local and global challenges of climate change, ageing and bridging community divides.

2021: Shifting Landscapes, Shifting Perspectives?

The 9th edition of the 2021 conference focused on the global themes of social justice, museums and sustainability and the future of museums.

2020: Can Museums and Galleries Save UK Diplomacy? Soft Power in Turbulent Times

The 8th edition Working Internationally Conference examined the variety of ways in which museums and galleries create and influence soft power.

2019: 'Working Together to Achieve More'

The 7th edition of the conference took place at the British Library on Monday 11th March 2019. The theme 'working together to achieve more' looked at the role that international networks can have in supporting cross-border collaborations and partnerships when the world is becoming more fragmented.

2018: 'Working Locally, Thinking Globally'

The 6th edition considered how museums can respond to the new international context in light of recent world events, while maintaining relevance for both domestic and international audiences.

2017: 'Brexit'

The 2017 conference took the pulse of working internationally in a post-Brexit world.  Asking: What issues will UK museums face in the months and years ahead as the UK seeks political separation from the EU?  How can we maximise the opportunities and manage the challenges ahead of us?
