Director - Wallace Collection

Rosalind Savill has worked at the Wallace Collection since 1974 and was appointed Director in 1992. After graduating from Leeds University she joined the Victoria and Albert Museum, firstly working as a cashier in the canteen and then as a member of the Ceramics Department, which she left to become Museum Assistant at the Wallace Collection. Ms Savill became Assistant to the Director in 1978 and in 1988 published The Wallace Collection Catalogue of Sèvres Porcelain in three volumes. This established her as the world authority on the subject and in 1990 she was awarded the National Art Collection Fund prize for her scholarship. In 2000 she received a CBE for her service to the study of ceramics.

Ms Savill is an FSA and FRSA, she is a member of National Trust Art's Panel; the Art Advisory Committee, National Museums and Galleries of Wales; The Royal Mint Advisory Committee; the Museums and Collections Advisory Committee, English Heritage, and she is a trustee of Somerset House and for the Campaign for Museums. She is a Governor of Camden School for Girls and President of the French Porcelain Society.
