University Engagement Lead

THIS POST COULD BE CONSIDERED AS A SECONDMENT OPPORTUNITY

About the role

Are you passionate about engaging university students or young people with museums, art and culture? Do you enjoy developing creative programmes, building partnerships and making cultural spaces more accessible and inclusive?

The Ashmolean Museum, the University of Oxford’s Museum of art and archaeology, is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced University Engagement Lead to join our Schools and University Engagement Team on a part-time basis, providing parental leave cover.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape and deliver innovative engagement activities that connect Oxford’s diverse student community with the Museum, its collections and opportunities.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Museum and wider University, you will lead the development, delivery and evaluation of The Ashmolean Student, an ambitious programme designed to make the Museum a welcoming, dynamic and inclusive space for students.

This is a fixed-term (parental leave cover) post for one year, working part time for 18.75 hours per week.
You will work onsite at the Ashmolean Museum. This role involves daily manual handling activities.
Due to the nature of this post, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) due to regulated activity involving children and ‘at risk’ adults.

About You
We are looking for a creative, proactive and highly organised individual with experience of developing and delivering high-quality engagement programmes for students within a university or cultural organisation.
You will bring excellent communication and relationship-building skills, experience of working with volunteers or interns, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
A sound understanding of the University of Oxford, confidence using digital platforms and a commitment to inclusive audience engagement are essential.

• An excellent contributory pension scheme
• 38 days of annual leave
• A comprehensive range of childcare services

The Chair of this recruitment panel will be Melanie Rowntree Head of Schools and University Engagement, who can be contacted with enquiries relating to the role ([email protected]). For queries about the recruitment and application process, please contact ([email protected]).

FOR SECONDMENTS: Please discuss Secondments with your line manager in the first instance, as you must have their agreement that you can be released for a secondment before you submit an application.

*An automatic annual increment each year will be paid up to (and not including) the discretionary range within the University of Oxford’s Grade 6 salary scale.
