Kelvin Hall Access and Events Assistant

The working pattern is Monday to Thursday: 09:15am - 17:00pm.

The National Library of Scotland is one of Scotland’s premier cultural institutions. It contains the nation’s memory: our collections document the influence of Scots at home and abroad across the centuries, while also reflecting the ideas and cultures of the world. Our premises at the iconic Kelvin Hall in Glasgow’s West End showcases the Moving Image Archive along with providing access to the Library’s extensive digital collections.

As an Access and Events Assistant, you will be part of the team responsible for the delivery of the on-site access and events, as well as a remote enquiry service to the users of the Library collections located at the Kelvin Hall. The Access Centre is open Tuesday to Saturday, with our remote enquiries provided Monday to Friday.

Duties will include offering assistance and guidance for accessing film archive, sound material, and the Library’s extensive digital resources. The Access and Events team act as the first point of contact for users and play a key role in establishing the reputation of the Library at Kelvin Hall.

The ideal candidates will have experience of working in a customer service and events-based role. They will have excellent customer services skills, the ability to work well within a team and be flexible and adaptable. An enthusiasm and respect for historical and nationally significant collections would be beneficial.
