About you
You will have both a strong accounting background and proven finance systems experience and be able to demonstrate:
• CCAB accountancy qualification
• Demonstrable management accounting experience and strong technical accounting knowledge including Accounting Standards and regulatory framework, income tax, NI and VAT.
• Demonstrable success in process and control improvements and managing projects successfully. Ideally with experience of administering and/or upgrading a financial system.
• Previous experience as a finance systems lead or in a systems-focused finance role.
• Strong understanding of finance systems, controls, governance and compliance frameworks. Ideally, you will have some experience with Unit4 (Agresso) and/or Business Central.
• Advanced Excel and strong IT skills.
• Able to think strategically and effectively prioritise.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial and systems information to senior and non-financial stakeholders clearly.
Key areas of responsibility
• Lead the development, maintenance and optimisation of finance systems, including ERP functionality, controls, user access and system improvements.
• Act as the recognised finance systems expert, supporting users, delivering training and driving system enhancements.
• Lead on risk management, compliance and regulatory requirements, ensuring policies and processes remain robust and effective, collaborating closely with other departments and committees.
• Identify applicable finance-related elements of public sector and charity regulation and best practice, especially Managing Public Money and DCMS management agreement ensuring this is embedded in risk management and applicable policies and processes effectively.
• Lead of counter-fraud strategy, including liaising with DCMS and Cabinet Office on Government Functional Standards.
• Manage and improve budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting processes, including staff cost modelling and payroll-related controls.
• Support and advise on organisation-wide projects, providing financial expertise and ensuring best-practice project appraisal and evaluation.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and influencing positive change through process improvement initiatives.
