Join the British Library Supporting World-Class Events.
The British Library is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic AV Supervisor to join our team. Based at our iconic St Pancras site, you’ll play a key role in delivering outstanding audio-visual support for a wide variety of events. From high-profile corporate and government presentations, to public performances, conferences, and lectures, you’ll help ensure every event runs seamlessly.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated AV Supervisor to lead the delivery of high-quality audio visual (AV) services at the British Library’s Knowledge Centre in St Pancras.
This is an exciting opportunity to manage a specialist team supporting a wide range of events, from large-scale public programmes to private and commercial hires. You will play a key role in ensuring seamless AV operations while driving innovation, efficiency, and service excellence across our event spaces.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Service Delivery:
• Lead, manage, and develop the Media (AV) team, ensuring effective prioritisation and allocation of work.
• Supervise AV technicians, freelancers, contractors, and external AV crews.
• Deliver high-quality AV services that meet agreed performance targets.
• Foster collaboration across teams to enhance service delivery and user experience.
Technical & Operational Oversight:
• Oversee AV operations across event spaces, including:
o Installation of temporary AV setups.
o Selection of appropriate equipment for each space.
o Ensuring all work complies with safety requirements.
o Management of AV equipment stock and maintenance.
o Provide hands-on support for complex installations and troubleshooting.
o Maintain and enhance AV systems, including audio, lighting, video, conferencing, and control interfaces.
• Support a diverse programme of events across varying hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Work closely with Public Events & Commercial teams to deliver engaging, technically robust events.
• Liaise with internal and external clients to interpret briefs and recommend suitable AV solutions.
• Provide guidance and training to users on AV systems during rehearsals and live events.
• Drive service improvements and operational efficiencies within AV services.
• Develop and deliver training programmes to maintain and expand team expertise.
• Monitor system performance, identify trends, and implement corrective actions.

Desirable Experience
• Proven experience of supervising a team of AV Technicians.
• Proven experience of a broad range of professional AV and IT systems, including:
o Multi-channel audio and lighting desks.
o Crestron or similar control systems.
o Professional video and projection systems.
o Audio/video conferencing technologies.
• Strong leadership and team management experience.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a logical and analytical approach.
• Ability to interpret technical requirements and deliver practical solutions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to high service standards.
• CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) or equivalent AV qualification

This role supports a live events environment, so flexibility is essential. You may be required to work:
