Audio Visual Support Technician

About the role

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to contribute to a once-in-a-generation exhibition centred on the Bayeux Tapestry - one of the world's most iconic and historically significant works.

As part of this landmark project, you will play a key role in supporting and maintaining the AV infrastructure that brings the exhibition to life, helping to create an immersive and memorable experience for visitors. We are looking for enthusiastic AV technicians who are motivated by the opportunity to work on a high-profile, culturally significant exhibition and ensure its technical delivery runs seamlessly.

About you

* You have hands-on experience of setting up, operating, and troubleshooting AV equipment, with a strong interest in live events and exhibition environments
* You are a confident communicator, able to explain technical information clearly to non-technical colleagues and build effective working relationships
* You remain calm under pressure, able to prioritise tasks and respond flexibly in a fast-paced and sometimes reactive environment
* You are proactive and self-motivated, with a willingness to learn and continuously develop your technical skills on the job

Key areas of responsibility

* Operate and support AV facilities across live events, exhibitions, galleries, and meeting spaces
* Provide first-line technical support, troubleshooting AV equipment and systems to ensure seamless delivery
* Contribute to AV projects, including design, installation, maintenance, and de-installation for exhibitions and gallery spaces
* Support the setup and delivery of live and hybrid events, including digital streaming and technical coordination
* Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the Museum to understand requirements, manage AV assets, and continuously improve services

The Masterplan

The British Museum is undertaking its biggest transformation since its founding nearly 300 years ago. This physical and intellectual transformation includes large scale building and gallery transformation, new ways of connecting with audiences and different ways of working. As we look towards this exciting future, we remain guided by the words of our founder Hans Sloane - who dreamed of a museum connecting all arts and sciences, which would be accessible to everyone, everywhere.
