This is a great opportunity to join the team:
We’re looking for an experienced Finance Officer to join our friendly and busy team. You’ll be right at the heart of what we do, helping to keep the Museum running smoothly by making sure financial transactions are accurate, timely and well controlled. From processing invoices to reconciling bank accounts, your work will directly support our museums.
This is a hands-on, transactional finance role and we are looking for someone with the experience needed to step into the role.
You’ll be responsible for the day to day running of financial transactions, including:
· Raising sales invoices and responding to customer queries
· Processing purchase invoices and supporting supplier queries
· Processing payment runs
· Completing bank and cash reconciliations
· Raising journals and reconciling control accounts
· Supporting with general finance tasks and ad-hoc duties as needed
What you can bring:
· Understanding of finance services, with specific knowledge of one or more specialist areas i.e. sales ledger, purchase ledger, nominal ledger.
· Understanding of standards and good practice relating to financial services.
· The ability to recognise financial transactions and situations that may adversely impact the business.
· The understanding of the importance of accurate record keeping.
· Experience of working in a busy finance department working as a team, in a complex multi stakeholder organisation.
· Ability to use your initiative and question matters arising.
· Experience of working within busy and varied transactional finance services.
· Understanding of working within a robust financial control framework.
· Communication skills with the business, customers, and suppliers on financial services.
· We use complex IT systems to ensure all the information relating to the Museum is held as accurately and as timely as possible so you will also need to possess good IT skills and be proficient in the use of Excel spreadsheets.
· An AAT qualification, or equivalent practical experience gained in a finance or accounts role.
