Project Assistant (Archaeology)

London Museum is recruiting two Project Assistants (Archaeology) to join our Archaeological Archive team. This is a great opportunity for early-career applicants with experience of working with archaeological collections and an interest in collections management.

This role is part of our Archaeological Archive team and is based in both our Hackney Store and London Museum Spaces at one of the most exciting points in the Museum’s history, as we undertake a huge project to greater understand how London's past is represented in our collection.

As a Project Assistant will be working to improve and expand our archaeological collections data, both objects and human remains, building new digital assets, addressing documentation backlogs and resolving legacy inventory issues. The Project Assistant role will also assist with new depositions and facilitate research access.

This role would suit someone with a background in archaeology who wants to grow their experience in cataloguing and collections management. You should be comfortable working in a warehouse environment, including confined spaces and roller racking, and be prepared to wear full PPE for some tasks.

We are looking for someone who is goal-driven, with the ability to work to deadlines in a project environment, manage their own workload and time effectively, and maintain focus and attention to detail over routine tasks. You'll also need to be a strong team player who communicates well and can work effectively across the organisation.
