Lead Digital Exhibit Technician

Ready to manage the technology behind unforgettable museum experiences?

About us

The Science Museum Group (SMG) encompasses the Science Museum, the National Railway Museum, the Science & Industry Museum, the Science & Media Museum, Locomotion and the Science and Innovation Park, making us the world's greatest alliance of science museums.

The Technical Services department supports the Science Museum by maintaining digital exhibits and supporting the AV design and build of new galleries, exhibitions and presentation spaces.

To support this work, we are now looking for a Lead Digital Exhibit Technician based at the Science Museum on a full-time, permanent basis.

About the role

As Lead Digital Exhibit Technician, you will lead an operational maintenance team, ensuring galleries and exhibits are performing and responding to reactive issues. Alongside day-to-day operations, you will deliver a programme of planned maintenance, look ahead to future investment needs, and lead improvements to interactive exhibits and key infrastructure, ensuring they meet security standards.

This is a permanent, full-time role based onsite at the Science Museum. Shifts mainly cover 07:30-15:45, with some between 10:00-18:15. You will work one in three weekends and share Bank Holidays.

About you

By joining us, you'll bring comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated experience across a wide range of AV hardware and systems, paired with solid ICT literacy and practical experience using Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. The role requires someone who has experience planning and delivering small projects and who brings excellent interpersonal skills.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to step up into line management, and who is experienced in supervising small teams and contractor works.

You'll thrive delivering top-quality results to strict deadlines amid a busy workload.

Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
