About us
Royal Museums Greenwich is a collection of diverse historical sites. The sites are the National Maritime Museum, Cutty Sark, the Royal Observatory, and the Queen’s House. Each of these sites has a unique identity and a common purpose to serve our communities, through sharing our collections and expertise. We form a campus within the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage site, with supporting operations at the Prince Philip Maritime Collections Centre in Kidbrooke, the Brass Foundry in Woolwich, and administrative offices in Greenwich. We are a place to explore the sea, space, art and history, and our strategy ‘Charting Our Course’ puts people at the core of its success.

Working within the Commerce and Visitor Experience team and reporting to the Publishing Manager, the Publishing Project Editor is responsible for the project management of a range of publishing projects (including collections titles, guidebooks, children’s titles, exhibition catalogues and digital products) and takes an active role in all aspects of the publishing process.
Key elements of the role include managing editorial, design, proofreading and production stages of publishing projects, such as overseeing relationships with freelance designers and editors and liaising with printers. The Publishing Project Editor is also responsible for managing project budgets, including negotiating image rights, editorial or design fees and other costs, to ensure that projects come in on budget.
The successful candidate will have proven experience working on publishing projects, ideally illustrated books, with experience in copy-editing, proofreading and writing copy. They should have an awareness of intellectual property rights and sound copyright knowledge. The role holder will be a clear and assertive communicator with good commercial awareness.
