Acquisitions South Team Member: Slavonic and East European Languages

The British Library is the national library of the United Kingdom and gives access to the world’s most comprehensive research collection with over 170 million items in most known languages.

Working in our Acquisitions South Team you will be using the Library's acquisition and cataloguing system to check, order, record and pay for material selected for the European Collections which house some of the world’s finest Slavonic and East European resources.

You will have excellent written knowledge of Polish and/or Czech, and ideally familiarity or experience of working with other Slavonic languages.. As an effective administrator with an eye for detail, you will be computer literate with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A background in library acquisitions work or procurement would be an advantage.

Please note that this role involves a significant amount of manual handling, such as lifting and opening parcels and transporting items on book trolleys.
