Social Media manager

In this role you'll use your extensive experience of collaborating with stakeholders across large organisations to share the fascinating stories playing out every day behind the scenes and encourage new followers to join us in our free and welcoming public spaces.

You’ll be adept at nurturing a community and calm managing a crisis online, obsessed with the stats and excited about emerging platforms. As an experienced shortform content creator, excellent communicator adept at juggling multiple projects, keeping them on track to meet deadlines, working independently or as part of a team and managing cross-organisational stakeholder groups, comfortable presenting to colleagues and board members alike.

As the UK’s national library we believe the more we know, the more we make possible. We have big ambitions to reach more people than ever with the channels this role manages, bringing our brand to life, both online and onsite, and helping fulfil our mission to unlock ideas and imagination.

About the Marketing Department

We’re a friendly and collaborative team of around 40 people working across four specialist areas: Marketing Campaigns, Digital Engagement, Design, and Audience Insight & Data. Based primarily at our London St Pancras office, but with colleagues in Yorkshire, we use hybrid working to work flexibly while ensuring we regularly come together in person to share knowledge, celebrate successes, and support one another to achieve our goals. By combining our diverse skills and experiences, and drawing inspiration from beyond our walls, we help connect the British Library with audiences across the UK and the world. We work hard, stay curious, and take pride in the impact of what we do.
