The museum will sit in atmospheric former market buildings – over 30,000 sqm – at the heart of one of the capital’s most historic and creative quarters, Smithfield. The New Museum project is one of the largest cultural projects in Europe and will transform the museum, Smithfield and the City of London, creating a new cultural quarter for London.
At this exciting time we are seeking an exceptional facilities professional as our Deputy Head of Estate & Facilities to care for our diverse portfolio of buildings. Capable of inspiring and leading a high performing FM team, you will support the opening of the UK’s first smart museum, working with the Head of Estate to transition from PPM (Planned, Preventative Maintenance) to data-led maintenance. Responsible for oversight of projects, you will lead on fabric management for the Estate and deliver an outstanding experience for visitors and staff.
You will bring a positive, collaborative style and a talent for motivating your team based on excellent people skills. With experience of hard and soft service contract management, project management and public site operations.

If you are successfully shortlisted you will be invited to an initial interview where you will be asked questions to help us understand more about what you share in your application, and in particular to understand how you meet the essential person specification criteria for the role and demonstrate our museum behaviours. As part of the interview process, a short presentation to the panel on a relevant topic will be required. Candidates may also be invited for a site tour of the new museum as part of the final stage of the selection process.
