Are you ready to deliver your next transformational project?
Does the idea of bringing not one, but two space-themed galleries to life inspire you?
About us
The Science Museum Group (SMG) is home to a highly regarded collection in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine. Our mission is to inspire futures by helping people understand the role of science in shaping our lives.
Our visionary Masterplan programme represents a major step forward in our vision - creating life-enhancing visitor experiences through beautiful, intentional, and skilfully crafted design. Over the past decade, our Masterplan team has delivered a series of transformational projects across the Science Museum, increasing visitor numbers, deepening engagement, and enriching the science capital of the UK.
We're now looking for a Client Project Manager to join this highly accomplished team and help us deliver the next phase of our journey, focussing primarily on two new Space-themed galleries.
This is a fixed term contract ending in November 2027.
About the role
As Client Project Manager, you will report to the Masterplan Project Director and work closely with museum colleagues and external partners to deliver major capital projects within the Science Museum's Masterplan.
You'll manage projects from concept through to completion, ensuring delivery to agreed time, cost, and quality standards, while integrating effectively with live museum operations. Acting as the key point of contact, you'll lead the project brief, design, and delivery stages, collaborating with a Construction Project Manager and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless execution.
Effective stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration will be central to shaping innovative and inspiring visitor experiences.
About you
By joining us, you will bring extensive experience in delivering capital projects, gained in a client-facing role. While experience within the cultural or heritage sector would be an advantage, what matters most is your ability to manage project budgets of £1m or more, with confidence in financial reporting and meeting forecast expenditure targets. You will also have a thorough understanding of the built environment and the wide range of disciplines required to deliver complex capital projects effectively.
Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
