Corporate Information Officer

Are you interested in organising information and ensuring it is accessible for all? Are you ready to help maintain compliance, transparency, and effective information management across a world-class museum group?

About us

The Science Museum Group is dedicated to keeping our unique museums open for everyone through the management of our collections, buildings, people, and information. Our Corporate Information team plays a key role in ensuring that the Group's records and information are well managed, compliant with legislation, and accessible to colleagues and the public.

We are now looking for a Corporate Information Officer to join our People & Culture team at the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester. In this role, you will help manage SMG's corporate records, focusing on retention, archiving, and access under the Public Records Act 1958, while supporting the Group's wider information management strategy.

About the role

As Corporate Information Officer, you will share responsibility for the creation, cataloguing, storage, retrieval, and disposal of corporate records. You will carry out retention reviews of historic public records, assist colleagues with information requests, and contribute to projects including digitisation and improved information management practices.

You will also help promote a positive culture around corporate information, data protection, and privacy, ensuring accurate records are maintained, and access to information is ensured for the public and colleagues. The role involves both paper and digital records, supporting the Information Asset Register, and assisting with research queries as required.

This is a part-time role at 21 hours per week with hybrid working available, requiring a minimum of 40% of your working hours on-site.

About you

We are keen to hear from candidates with an interest in managing information in libraries, archives, or records management environments. You will bring:

* Experience handling information and records.
* Adeptness in coordinating tasks with colleagues at all levels.
* Capable organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize workloads and maintain high standards.
* An engaged, values-driven approach and a commitment to contributing to an open and inclusive organisation.
* Confidence in working autonomously while meeting deadlines.

It would be an advantage if you have:

* Experience managing corporate information or records in a public-sector context.
* Experience researching queries in records or information systems.
* Knowledge of information access legislation for public authorities or museums.
* Experience of working in a library, archive, or records department.
