Key Responsibilities [in order of priority]:
• To conserve and prepare objects made of inorganic materials for record photography.
• Monitor, deliver, and develop object treatment targets and project milestones.
• To lead in the coordination and delivery of both interventive and preventive conservation activities relating to the Documentation and Digitisation Project.
• To act as lead conservation liaison and member of the core project team for all relevant workstreams relating to the Documentation and Digitisation Project.
• Contributing to the delivery of Documentation and Digitisation Project phases and providing preservation expertise, ensuring effective delivery to time and budget.
• Independently solve challenging problems within complex projects, applying a high level of expertise, sound judgment, innovation, and adaptability.
• To contribute and support workflow across relevant teams in the Collection Care and Curatorial Departments to ensure project delivery.
• Monitor project resources and coordinate purchases to support smooth delivery.
• To work with the Collection Care and Conservation Senior Management Team reporting on project delivery progress and ensure continuous coordination of relevant workflows.
• To ensure best practice and compliance with latest health and safety legislation.
• To provide expert advice and collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders, e.g., collections management, curatorial and other project staff, across the museum on conservation, preventive conservation and collection care related matters.
• Providing a point of continuous review to streamline and improve processes and procedures relating to the safeguarding of the collection in relation to the Documentation and Digitisation Project.
• To line manage, set standards, motivate and develop staff as required.
• To develop and prepare potential funding bids, tender documents, etc. as needed.
• To proactively engage with the department’s outreach activities through public speaking, writing blogs and publishing as needed.
• Support for other aspects of the Documentation and Digitisation Project programme as appropriate and as agreed with line manager, including record photography.
• Support project fundraising efforts and contribute to general income generation for the museum as needed
• To act as an advocate for the Museum.
• To change the focus of work in line with museum priorities.
• Other duties as assigned.
