Royal Museums Greenwich is a collection of diverse historical sites. The sites are the National Maritime Museum, Cutty Sark, the Royal Observatory, and the Queen’s House. Each of these sites has a unique identity and a common purpose to serve our communities, through sharing our collections and expertise. The role
Be at the forefront of an exciting transformation at one of the world's most iconic historic and scientific landmarks. As Project Finance Officer, you’ll play a pivotal role in First Light - an ambitious capital project set to reinvent the Royal Observatory Greenwich for a new generation. With the launch scheduled for spring/summer 2028, this major redevelopment will deliver a dynamic suite of permanent and semi-permanent exhibitions across the north of the Observatory site, designed to engage fresh audiences and illuminate the Observatory’s enduring relevance.
The role is related to an application for funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) and will only be appointed if this is successful.
Supported by the Finance Business Partner and Senior Exhibitions Project Manager, you will be the first point of contact for the First Light project team for matters relating to project finances.
A major part of your work will also be to pull together all relevant documentation as required by the NLHF and other funders on a monthly basis.
Your role will include overseeing all information pertaining to suppliers, purchase orders, invoices and credit card purchases to the project cost, keep detailed records and ensure compliance with financial regulations and Museum policies. Further elements of the role involve helping with year end accruals and various other tasks if the need arises.
We are looking for someone with strong organisational skills and proven experience of working in finance. You’ll have good knowledge of MS Office 365, demonstrating you can create and maintain complex spreadsheets using a range of Excel functions, and a proven understanding of bookkeeping procedures. The ability to coordinate multiple tasks within tight timescales while maintaining strict confidentiality, are also essential to this role.
This is a full-time, fixed-term role for 3 years or upon completion of First Light in Band 5 - Management and Proficient Specialists. Core hours of work will be 36 per week, working Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, with an additional hour to be worked as agreed upon with management.
Salary: £36,900 per annum
