Visitor Fundraiser

Do you have great communication skills and the ability to provide a warm welcome to our visitors?

About us

As part of the renowned Science Museum Group, the National Science and Media Museum is known for its inspiring collections and its notable visitor experience. The museum relies on its Visitor Fundraising team to provide a friendly, tailored welcome to diverse audiences while raising vital unrestricted income through voluntary donations.

We are seeking a Visitor Fundraiser to maintain a high-quality visitor experience at the National Science and Media Museum for 12 hours per week on a permanent basis.

As a member of our Visitor Fundraising team, you'll be responsible for delivering a high standard of customer service by providing a friendly welcome to our diverse museum audiences and asking for voluntary donations.

About the role

As Visitor Fundraiser, you'll assist in coordinating visitor flow at the entrance to the museum and be responsible for processing museum admission tickets. You'll also work to actively promote the museum, upselling our commercial and retail activities, encouraging email opt-ins and providing visitors with information around Gift Aid to ensure that we're meeting our fundraising goals.

You will be one of the first faces our visitors see when they enter the museum. You will have the confidence to engage with our visitors in a professional and friendly manner and ask for donations as part of a warm visitor welcome.

The working shifts will be Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 1:15pm to 5:15pm.

About you

We welcome applications from candidates who have interest in, and an understanding of, the value of the museum to the local area and wider community.

Whether you have been a fundraiser in the past, worked sales or retail, or if this would be a new venture for you, you will be key to inspiring others in future of the Museum and effectively engaging the public to support us.

You would have had some exposure to using computer software such as Microsoft Office, and the willingness to learn to use a digital ticketing and till system to issue tickets, process donations and collect visitor data.

Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
