Are you passionate about history and skilled in mechanical conservation? Join us aboard one of London’s most iconic attractions — the HMS Belfast, moored on the River Thames. As a Conservator (Engineering), you’ll play a vital role in preserving the ship’s historic structure and fittings, leading a team in maintaining this unique piece of naval heritage.
Key Duties
Lead mechanical restoration and conservation projects across HMS Belfast.
Supervise and support a team of technicians, volunteers, and students.
Ensure all work complies with health and safety standards.
Conduct research to ensure historical accuracy.
Maintain detailed conservation records.
Engage with visitors to share the ship’s history and explain ongoing conservation work.
Could This Be You?
To be considered for this role, you should have: either a City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, or demonstrable experience in mechanical or marine engineering. You’ll be a skilled technician, a confident communicator, and passionate about heritage conservation.
