Inquiries Project Manager

The National Archives secures the future of the Public Record, preserving it for the nation and making it accessible for future generations of policy makers, researchers, students and citizens. Our collection spans almost 1000 years and is one of the largest in the world, containing over 11 million records from medieval parchment to modern papers, digital files, datasets, websites, tweets, and computer code. The National Archives is the archive of UK government and provides leadership to the wider UK archives sector.

Based within the Government Services and Strategic Engagement department, the Strategic Compliance team provides advice, guidance, and services to help government departments fulfil their obligations under the Public Records Act. We advise departments on their legal responsibilities, offer guidance on records management, and support them through the eventual disposition of their public records – including transferring records of enduring historical value to The National Archives in a timely way. This ensures that that vital public records survive for the benefit of the nation.

The Inquiries Project Manager will be responsible for planning and delivering selected Inquiry records, to The National Archives in a timely manner, through project management plans, ensuring steady progress, accountable decision making, timely archiving of records and strong oversight throughout. This role will require demonstrable continuous improvement skills to streamline processes, resolve issues and deliver an efficient service.

This role requires excellent planning and organisation skills, the proven ability to problem-solve in a complex environment, and strong stakeholder engagement and excellent communication skills.

This is a full time post. However, requests for part-time working, flexible working and job share will be considered, taking into account at all times the operational needs of the Department.

A combination of onsite and home working is available and applicants should be able to regularly travel to our Kew site for a minimum of 60% of their work time.
