Are you an experienced fundraiser with a passion for engaging audiences and inspiring support? Would you like to develop innovative giving products, grow legacy fundraising, and deliver excellent supporter experiences across the Science Museum Group?
About us
Here at the Science Museum Group (SMG) we share our unparalleled collection spanning science, technology, mathematics and medicine with millions of visitors each year.
To support us in this work, we are now recruiting for a full-time Individual Giving Manager working 35 hours per week on a permanent contract, joining our friendly and collaborative Fundraising and Partnerships team. This role is based at one of our sites in York, Manchester or London, with hybrid working available (minimum 40% of your working hours on-site).
About the role
As Individual Giving Manager, you will manage our individual giving function, raising over seven figures annually from visitors and low-level supporters (<£1,000). You will develop new low-level giving products, such as Adopt an Object and an upcoming public campaign supporting major capital works at the National Railway Museum. You will also lead on our legacy and In Memory fundraising, stewarding pledgers and their families appropriately.
You will take a data-driven approach to fundraising, using our CRM system and analytics tools to identify opportunities, optimise conversion rates, and improve supporter experiences. This role also involves coordinating cross-departmental project teams, developing compelling copy for use online and in-museum, and delivering creative stewardship journeys that deepen loyalty with our audiences.
There are no line management responsibilities within this position.
About you
Joining us, you will bring experience of delivering against income or engagement targets and coordinating public fundraising or marketing campaigns. You will have great copywriting and project coordination skills, along with the ability to prioritise workloads and manage competing deadlines.
You will be persuasive and confident when building consensus with colleagues, and you will have strong data skills to interpret results and make recommendations. Experience of legacy fundraising, donor stewardship, CRM systems and analytics tools would be an advantage.
Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
