[email protected]Library Cataloguer – Clive Phillpot Library
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Library team at Tate. Based at Tate Britain, the Library Cataloguer will be responsible for the cataloguing of the Clive Phillpot Library collection. In 2016 Tate Library received Clive Phillpot’s personal research library of, and about, artists’ publications, approximately 20 linear metres of material, including artists’ books, artists’ magazines, exhibition catalogues and ephemera, as well as monographs and other secondary publications about the history of artists’ engagement with printed matter as a medium for contemporary art practice.
Do you have experience in working in libraries and would like to join a friendly and dedicated Library team as a Library Cataloguer at Tate?
Working closely with the Senior Liaison Librarian, British Art and colleagues in the Library and Archive department, the Library Cataloguer will catalogue all Clive Phillpot’s library publications onto the Symphony database, process and then arrange for them to be housed in the Library stores at Tate Britain, so they can be accessed by Tate staff and external research for use in research as well as in displays and exhibitions.
This is an ideal opportunity for a someone who is looking for professional development as a cataloguer in a leading art library, who can work in an agile and flexible way, and be proactive in supporting and delivering excellent library services.
This position is offered on a fixed-term, part-time contract (0.5 FTE), 2 September 2025 – 12 June 2026, flexible 5-day fortnight – working 36 hours over 2 weeks (2 days over one week and 3 days over the next), on site.
