Stakeholder Relations Manager (Maternity Cover)

This post will lead on delivering IWM’s Stakeholder Relations Strategy. It will conduct political monitoring (on a local and national level) and horizon-scanning to ensure any risks to IWM’s success and growth are identified and mitigated. These are key areas that, through effective advocacy and positioning, can make a significant contribution to IWM’s profile and ultimately, long term success.

The role will lead on high-level stakeholder communications, events, visits, and meetings across all five branches, working closely with IWM’s Director-General, Executive Leadership Team and Board of Trustees.

This post has particular responsibility for the development and delivery of stakeholder relations to support IWM’s Major Projects; the IWM Duxford masterplan and any subsequent transformation projects for the organisation. This post offers a unique opportunity to take a leading role in defining how IWM will continue to evolve its purpose and impact in its public-facing work.

Key duties

You will be expected to work independently as well as across different teams in order to contribute to and deliver the priorities of IWM - using your knowledge, skills, talent and network to the best of your ability.

You will focus at all times on delivering excellent customer service, ensure value for money while being professional, courteous and demonstrating the behaviours and attributes expected of all IWM employees. You will also adhere to all corporate standards, and use corporate systems as directed to ensure consistency of service, brand and operational standards.

You will drive the delivery and development of all services within your department, and contribute to the development of other areas as required.

You will play a key role and take responsibility for the development of corporate and departmental strategy and initiatives. You should be able to lead, manage and motivate staff, partners to get the best out of them.

To identify and implement learning and development needs of both yourself and your team.

In addition, your duties will include:

1. Work with the Head of Communications and Stakeholder Relations to contribute to the development of IWM’s revised national and international stakeholder relations strategy for 2025. Lead on the delivery, roll-out and tailoring of the Stakeholder Strategy – working with colleagues across IWM and at each of our branches to ensure that we effectively identify, build and manage strategic relationships, programmes and stakeholders in a concerted and coherent way

2. Work closely with IWM’s Executive Leadership Team, Senior Management Team, Board of Trustees and colleagues from across IWM to ensure that we are operating effectively, strategically and with maximum impact in managing relations with key stakeholders on a local, national and international level

3. Lead on Government affairs for IWM including political monitoring of issues which relate to IWM, and engagement with UK Government and MPs. This is likely to include leading on the organisation of written communications, meetings, visits and briefing material.
