Richard Evans

Director - Beamish

Beamish is an award-winning living museum celebrating the social, industrial and agricultural heritage of the North East England.  As Director of the Museum, Richard oversees a budget of £4 million, 300 acres of grounds and more than 200 employees in the high season.  These are interesting times for the Museum.  With the support of his team Richard is currently preparing a new forward plan for Beamish, including a number of exciting developments and events to help secure a successful long term future for the region’s museum.

Born in rural Kent, Richard is married with two young children and lives on the border of County Durham in the North Pennines.  He has an MA in English and Philosophy from Glasgow University.  Prior to working at Beamish, Richard was the Director of the Wentworth Castle and Stainborough Park restoration project near Barnsley and Development Officer for New Lanark World Heritage Village in Scotland.
