Friday Late Programme Assistant

Fixed term 6 months position, working annualised hours (1 day per week)

The V&A Friday Late began in 1999, establishing the original format for museum late-night events, celebrating all aspects of contemporary visual culture by bringing emerging practitioners in design, art, performance and technology into the museum experience.

The Friday Late Programme Assistant is responsible for assisting with the delivery of the programme of 10 events per year, on the last Friday evening of each month and which see 3,000 – 6,000 visitors attend across the museum. The role is answerable to the Friday Late Programme Co-ordinator and deals with the practical delivery of each event.

The post holder will work strategically, liaising with teams across the museum to orchestrate the Health and Safety, Room bookings, Security, Logistical and Portering arrangements for each Late. They will work closely with the Friday Late Coordinator to ensure every event reaches the V&A standards, assisting in all aspects of delivery and supporting the coordinator in researching their planned themes for the programme.

The post is based within the V&A’s Design Architecture and Digital department. The DAD team is motivated by the civic role of the museum in contemporary society, and works to collect and exhibit objects, and host events that tell stories about digital culture, design and public life.
