About the Role
We are seeking an organised and creative Events Co-ordinator to support the planning and delivery of our diverse public events and activity programme. You will play a key operational and administrative role in the creation and facilitation of events, ensuring their smooth delivery. Collaborating with internal teams and external partners, you will contribute to developing new event strands while maintaining the ongoing programme.
The Horniman’s public events range from family-friendly crafts and holiday activities to adult workshops, large-scale festivals, and seasonal fairs, offering an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities
Organise and deliver weekly and seasonal public events, including family crafts, storytelling, adult workshops, and outdoor activities.
Provide excellent customer service and ensure the successful execution of events.
Collaborate with internal teams (Schools, Communities, Marketing) and external partners to plan and promote the events programme.
Manage event logistics, including scheduling staff, freelancers, and volunteers, and oversee their contributions during events.
Support data collection and reporting on participation figures, assisting with audience evaluation and trend analysis.
Contribute to risk management protocols to ensure the safe and effective delivery of public events.
Requirements
Experience engaging families, adults, and diverse audiences in a cultural setting.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confident in public engagement and content delivery.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for data entry and reporting.
Knowledge of public programming operations, including audience development and income generation.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required, with a commitment to the Horniman’s values and mission.
